The Directorate – General for Energy and Transport (DG TREN) of the European
Commission, in the framework of the Energie Programme, is co-financing and supporting the project entitled “Promotion of EU Biomass Technology in Agro-Industry of High potential Third Countries” which is undertaken by an international consortium led by EXERGIA S.A.
The aim of the project is to promote and support the business development of European manufacturers of combustion equipment for biomass residues with emphasis on cotton, rice, wheat and wood waste in Third Countries. The initiative comprises activities both with a general character, like information disseminated to potential customers in Third Countries, and targeted activities in three countries: China, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
The European industry for the exploitation of biomass has developed specific technologies that have overcome operational problems and now are popular, well established, and commercially available. Nowadays, there are state of the art systems that matched in the EU; however, the main markets are those outside the EU in countries with very large production of cotton, rice and wheat.
The project assists the EU companies to penetrate the international market to support the business development between European and international market actors in the biomass sector whether it concerns the fields of biomass resource exploitation, business relationships, potential client contacts, development of competitive strategies, increase of brand identity etc.
Emphasis is given to the technology transfer and know-how of biomass combustion equipment developed in European countries.
