British BioGen is the Trade Association for the UK’s bioenergy industry. Our mission is to promote and co-ordinate the commercial development of biomass as a renewable fuel resource for energy production.

Biomass includes energy crops, such as short rotation coppice and miscanthus, agricultural by-products (both wet and dry), energy forestry produce and forestry residues.

The key conversion technologies include combustion, gasification, pyrolysis and anaerobic digestion.

Our vision from the outset was to create an organisation that would have an important market development role as well as undertaking the normal activities of a Trade Association. We invite participation from all sectors; project developers, equipment manufacturers, financiers, consultants, as well as growers and grower groups. We can count amongst our membership major plc’s, together with small and medium sized companies, academic institutions and a range of representative organisations, including the National Farmers Union, the Country Landowners Association, and Friends of the Earth. We work closely with UK government on support mechanisms for the development of bioenergy.
