WasteTech Congress on Waste Management and Recycling, June 3-6, 2003
Session “Biomass energy (agricultural and forestry waste)”, June 3, 2003
WasteTech-2003 is organized in parallel with a 4-day Congress on Waste Management and Recycling within the “Rossia” facilities. The Consortium in cooperation with the WasteTech Management has agreed to include a session on Biomass utilization from Agricultural and Forestry Waste on the first day of the meeting. The main topics of discussion will be the EU and Russian policy in renewable energy, latest achievements in the renewable field, the local energy and environmental requirements, the regulatory issues related to the liberalization of energy market and examples of successful use of the biomass potentialities in Russia. It will also be an opportunity to obtain the information on the latest trends and news and help exchange information about future developments and technologies. The conference will have simultaneous translation and audio-visual equipment (slide and overhead projectors for oral presentation) will be provided. Participating companies will be allowed to make short presentations and/or poster presentations.
The Consortium will invite local experts, academics, state officials and business actors to attend the Congress free of charge and give them the opportunity to participate in other sessions of the conference. After the Congress session on biomass, local business representatives will be invited, giving participants at the EU-Pavilion additional opportunities to meet potential customers.

Workshop on “Energy from Biomass”
EU-Turkish Co-operation

A workshop entitled “Energy from Biomass” was held on Friday,
September 6, 2002 from 9.00 to 11.30. The workshop took place in a seminar room
of the AGROTEC conference facilities and was attended by more than 40 attendees.
The workshop was chairman by Mr. Erdal Kabatepe, Chairman of MERKAT. English and
Turkish were the working languages of the workshop. Simultaneous translation and
audiovisual equipment was provided.
Speakers from the European Union and Turkey covered various topics of discussion mainly focusing on policy issues and technological developments of biomass energy utilisation in Europe and Turkey.

Workshop on Energy from Biomass on May 27, 2002 at the CBHT 2002 in Beijing
A workshop on Energy from Biomass was held on Monday, 27 May 2002 from 9.00 to
11.30. The workshop took place in a seminar room of the CBHT conference
facilities. During the workshop participants from the exhibitions-stands made
brief presentations of their companies and were given additional opportunities
to meet potential costumers and facilitate the exchange of information and
knowledge.
The workshop addressed a series of issues including:
Governmental plan for the biomass development in the next five-year plan period;
Policy issues to promote biomass energy utilization in exhibitions and workshops;
Modern technologies on biomass utilization, including combustion, gasification, briquetting, biofuel, etc. in both exhibitions and workshops;
exhibitions and workshops
cooperation for accelerating the marketing of biomass energy utilization in
workshops.
